This curriculum has been designed to enhance the knowledge, attitude and skills of staff working with youth who face many challenges. In addition to the daunting task of leaving care, many youth struggle with combinations of substance abuse, mental health, sexuality and violence issues. Although no curriculum can provide the magic bullet to meet the immense needs of the youth and staff who are the focus of this course, it is hoped that some new strategies and skills can improve the lives of high risk youth. It is hoped that you will deliver the course numerous times, with positive results. Consistent with a youth development approach, feel free to involve young people in the delivery of the course in any way that enhances the experience for participants, and provides greater depth of understanding for them.
