What We Do: Training Institutes
New York State Child Welfare/Child Protective Services Training Institute (NYSCWCPSTI)
The largest CDHS training unit in both the number of courses delivered and the total amount of funding, the NYSCWCPSTI provides outcome-based training that promotes the growth and development of all levels of child welfare staff in New York State, including State social services agencies, local districts, and other agencies.
 
Foster/Adoptive Parent Training Project
Operating statewide, the Foster/Adoptive Parent Training Project provides direct, outcome-based training to caseworkers, homefinders, and foster and adoptive parents in order to promote safety, well-being, and permanence for children.
 
HIV/AIDS Training Institute

CDHS HIV/AIDS trainers develop and deliver training courses to meet the needs of child welfare professionals and foster parents. Begun in 1989, the statewide Children with HIV/AIDS Training Project focused on child welfare issues.

 
Medicaid Training Institute
CDHS Medicaid trainers provide training, support, and technical assistance to local district Medicaid eligibility staff and facilitated enrollers affiliated with either managed-care plans or community-based organizations as part of the New York State Department of Health.
 
Management Leadership Institute (MLI)
MLI staff provide training, support, and techical assistance to State and local government agencies through the use of a wide variety of management strategies and innovative learning solutions, including the latest technology and e-learning methodologies.
 
Special Projects
Consisting of approximately 75 consulting specialists with work assignments in State social services agencies and local DSS district offices, CDHS outstationed staff provide a wide range of training, support, and technical assistance functions.
