John Slaughter |
After joining CDHS in 1995, John served as an evaluation specialist I and II. In those capacities he assisted trainers in participating in and understanding all facets of the evaluation process and worked with them and the director of the Research and Evaluation Group (REG) in developing objective test and scale items. He also participated in the design and implementation of the Automated Course Evaluation System (ACES) and the deployment of the Personal Assessment Device (PAD) wireless data collection system to regional testing centers. In addition, John helped to oversee the integration of ACES data and real-time reporting capability into the Statewide Training and Registration System (STARS) database.
In his current post as the REG’s assistant director, John oversees the daily operations of the comprehensive evaluation system used to evaluate and report trainee/trainer performance to the Center’s state and local agency contractors. His responsibilities include the design and dissemination of tests and test-related materials, preparation of quarterly trainee/trainer performance reports, and the development of Web-based assessment instruments. He also monitors test instruments and items for validity, reliability, and relevance to course objectives and NYS Office of Children and Family Services Bureau of Training (BOT) mandates. Another important aspect of his role is to function as an information conduit between CDHS trainers, unit directors, the REG director, and other REG staff.
