Chapter 544 of the New York State Laws of 1988 requires
a number of professionals to complete two hours of training
in the identification and reporting of child abuse and
maltreament. The law states that a person applying on
or after January 1, 1991, initially or for the renewal
of a license, registration, certificate, or limited
permit must provide documentation that he or she has
completed this required training. The deadline for completion
of training by a currently licensed professional is
the start of the next triennial registration period
beginning on or after January 1, 1991.
The Center for Development of Human Services has been
approved by the New York State Department of Education
as a provider of this required training.
Qualification of the Trainers:
Our instructors are highly qualified to facilitate
this workshop. All have advanced degrees in areas such
as social work and criminal justice. All have extensive
experience working in Child Protective Services and
Child Welfare Services. They have trained thousands
of Child Protection and Child Welfare workers across
New York State. They have trained and certified mandated
reporters in this course for over 15 years.
Certificate Issued:
Participants receive an official Certificate of Completion
that is required by the New York State Education Department
for teacher certification and certification and licensure
in all other mandated professions.
This course is required by the New York State Department
of Education for all mandated professionals. Certification
and/or licensure will not be granted until this course
is completed.
Course Materials:
Participants receive a comprehensive book of resource
materials that outline roles and responsibilities of
mandated reporters, indicators of child abuse and maltreatment,
and important resources for further information.
